KVK Collaboration

About Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK)

KVK is an integral component of the National Agricultural Research System (NARS), evaluates technology modules specific to different locations in agriculture and related industries, and refines and demonstrates it for the benefit of farmers. Serving as both a Knowledge and Resource Centre, KVKs play a crucial role in supporting initiatives of the public, private, and voluntary sectors to enhance the agricultural economy of the district. They act as a vital link between the NARS, extension systems, and farmers, facilitating the transfer of agricultural technology and knowledge.

Objectives

The objective of the project was to improve soil health and promote sustainable cotton-growing practices. KhetiBuddy provided a personalized and dynamic cotton schedule to guide farmers, while also monitoring the soil health status for biodiversity and crop health with remote sensing technology. The platform helped reduce costs, and increase yield, and overall soil health.

Result

Our cumulative impact of the program can be best summarized with parameters like Input cost reduction (ICR), Yield quantity increment (YQI) and Crop loss reduction (CLR), observed at the end of the crop cycle. These parameters which best reflect the impact on the cotton farming community were brought about by Kheti Buddy’s various tech-led interventions based on agri support advisories built up on satellite imagery, weather conditions and field photos shared by farmers on the platform.
